How to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok? As many of you know, I’m planning my first trip to Thailand and so I’m studying much. Since I’ll move a little bit from the Bangkok, one of the first questions that I wondered was precisely this. So I looked for the best way to go from Bangkok to Koh Samui among many possible solutions.
Before continuing with this writing I would like to tell you the post in which I described the organization of my trip to Bangkok. I hope it will be useful at least as a starting point for reflection.

Before understanding how to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok it will be helpful to write some basic information. Koh Samui, also known as Ko Samui, is an island located on the southwestern tip of the Gulf of Thailand. The island’s airport is the Samui International Airport and the ferry harbor is the Nathon Pier.
Needless to say, getting to Koh Samui from Bangkok is often a must to stay on the very popular islands like Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Now we know the basics of how to organize a vacation in Thailand.

The best way to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok? Fly from Bangkok to the Island of Koh Samui

The fastest way to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok is by plane. The journey from the Thai capital to the island takes about an hour. The Bangkok Airways connects Bangkok to Koh Samui with over 15 daily flights. Another airline that connects Bangkok to Koh Samui is the Thai Airways with only 2 daily flights.
But how much does a direct flight Bangkok – Koh Samui costs? The price varies according to the season, but rarely exceeds 250 euro round trip.
To go from Bangkok to Koh Samui you can also take a direct flight from Bangkok to Suratthani. Suratthani is the nearest town on the mainland to Koh Samui. From the port of this city, Donsak, every day many ferries leave to Koh Samui.
The plane is the fastest way to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok. And perhaps it is also the best way to avoid wasting time on the road. I chose the direct flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui.

How to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok by train?

Getting from Bangkok to Koh Samui by train is probably the most used way, and one of the cheapest ways. Every evening from Hualamphong (Bangkok’s central station) several trains leave to Suratthani. Naturally, in this way you will need to take the ferry to Koh Samui. The cost of the train from Bangkok to Suratthani is about 25 euro. Obviously, at this cost should be added the cost of the ferry. The ferry from Suratthani to Koh Samui takes about 2 ½ hours.
Obviously, to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok by train you will lose a whole night and half a day of travel. It’s worth?

How to get to Koh Samui from Bangkok by ferry and bus

Getting from Bangkok to Koh Samui via bus and ferry option is little practiced. Personally, I think that it may be an interesting experience. The Lompraya private company owns Bus and fast catamarans that connect Bangkok to Koh Samui. Buses depart from Khao San Road twice a day.
Once in the small port of Chumphon, you’ll continue with fast catamarans before stopping in the island of Koh Tao and Koh Phangan and on to Koh Samui.
To get to Koh Samui from Bangkok by bus and fast catamaran takes about 10 hours. Obviously the price is lower than the previous solutions.

There are many other ways of reaching Koh Samui from Bangkok, but are less viable for tourist or more expensive. Have a nice trip.
